Shannon Monroe

Technical Support Specialist

Shannon has a service background spanning 35 years in the field. His career began in 1989 with the U.S. Coast Guard, where he attended HVAC/Refrigeration school in Yorktown, VA, and worked on chillers and refrigeration aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Legare. After completing a four-year tour, he transitioned into the private sector, working as a service technician and installer for various residential and commercial mechanical contractors while attending Louisiana Tech on the G.I. Bill, initially pursuing a degree in forestry. However, after discovering a ten-year waiting list for his desired role as a game warden in Louisiana, he chose a different path.

In 2002, Shannon moved to Nashville, TN, where he obtained a Tennessee mechanical contractor’s license and founded an HVAC mechanical company, growing it to a team of five employees. During this time, he also worked as a part-time instructor at Miller-Mott Technical College, teaching first-year HVAC students. In 2012, he sold the company and relocated to Michigan, where he obtained a Michigan Mechanical Contractor License and worked for several Michigan-based contractors.

Shannon spent four years with Carrier Commercial Service before joining Carrier Great Lakes in September 2022. Based out of the Lansing office, he provides technical support for ductless systems, Toshiba-Carrier VRF, and assists with residential and commercial product support, including field commissioning for Toshiba-Carrier VRF systems.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, playing golf, watching LSU football (Geaux Tigers!), and coaching his son’s football team.
